Finished reading Murder Must Advertise. Quite a good book, and I give her full marks for sneaky clue-delivery.

Lord Peter Wimsey, famed sleuth, goes to work in an advertising agency under a false name, in order to investigate a suspicious death. By the end of the book, he's destroyed a major cocaine ring responsible for five murders.

Only, as part of his cover, he's also come up with the most successful cigarette-marketing campaign in British history. His employer's reaction:

'This scheme should carry a strong appeal to women. "Give your children that seaside holiday by smoking Whifflets." That sort of thing. We want to get women down to serious smoking. Too many of them play about with it... If we increase women's smokes by 500 per cent - there's plenty of room for it...'

Also, he reminds me rather of Isabella in his "may I suggest death as a solution to your problems?" approach to things.

Reminds me of "The Space Merchants", where the Crunchies made you crave Popsie, the Popsie made you crave Starr Cigarettes, and the Starrs made you crave Crunchies. Another delightful book with a sleazy advertising executive as the protagonist.
