A modest proposal
May. 12th, 2012 12:56 pmBy the powers vested in me as Science Curmudgeon, I hereby call for a modification to the English language:
If you are talking about an actual aspect of "quantum mechanics" as part of the science pioneered by Schrodinger and Heisenberg - a science that can make testable predictions about things like electron tunnelling - you are hereby requested to spell it "kwantom mekanix".
If you are talking about "quantum mechanics" as code for "here is some implausible bullshit and I want it to look science-y", please ignore this post and continue using the traditional spelling.
Rant brought to you by this piece of A-grade woo. And while I'm at it, this guy, who doesn't actually invoke "quantum mechanics" in that article but might as well do.
