Sometimes I like to watch an episode of Doctor Who, count up the minutes spent on Slushy Dialogue Moments in the middle of world-imperilling crises, and use that to estimate the number of lives that could be saved if only our heroes would just BLOODY GET ON WITH IT.

I like the series, but yeah, there's too much filler dialog in most episodes. Same deal for Battlestar Galactica, 24, and most other shows I watch. I remember one particularly bad incident in 24 when a drone-carried nuke was 10 minutes away from hitting San Francisco, Chloe stepped away from her desk for 2 minutes (plus commercial break) to have a heart-to-heart with her ex-boyfriend instead of trying to find the nuke.
