An interesting coincidence

Watching the election coverage last night during breaks in our D&D game. The ABC had a bar at the bottom of the screen rotating through various results: "Bob Debus moves from State to Federal seat", "incumbent Alexander Downer holds seat", and so on, and then "Peter Tinley moves from Iraq to Stirling." That caused me a moment of confusion before I remembered that Tinley is an ex-SAS officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan before joining the ALP.

One part of his service record I hadn't been aware of until today: he was also deputy commander of the SAS force that boarded the Tampa back in 2001... bravo for life's little ironies!
