Via mr_figgy and CNN, AP covers New Year celebrations:

Fireworks exploded over Sydney's Harbor Bridge as a million onlookers greeted the New Year... In the Australian capital -- one of the world's first major cities to usher in the new year -- people crammed the harbor shore for the lavish fireworks display celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic bridge.

*snurk*

Edit: Some hours later, they've changed "In the Australian capital" to "In Sydney", but the other goof remains unfixed... Edit the second: And now that one's fixed too, not before time.

So, how's 2007 look so far?

Happy New Year to my friends down-under. I swear some day I'll make it to the southern hemisphere, and when I do, look out. Won't be 2007, but I will make it some day.

My silly brain still gets the giggles when I recall watching fireworks in Melbourne for New Year's 2001. You see, for two New Englanders, the thought of celebrating New Year's outside in shorts is just absurd (unless one wishes to get frostbite and hypothermia).
