So, if Sunday you're free...

Sunday, we drove up to Pioneer Park in Novato for a free lunchtime concert in the great outdoors. We arrived a couple of hours early just in case, then had our picnic lunch and read until the band showed up. Sound techs, drummer, sax players. Then - by now a great many people had gathered for the concert - a gorgeous (in a Gothic kinda way) Female Lead Vocalist, and a dapper manic Male Lead Vocalist. That's right, we went to see Lee Press-on and the Nails.
Silverblue introduced us to their music a couple of years back (for those who've never heard gothic jump-swing, www.leepresson.com will entertain and startle you.) I love their albums, and we'd been looking forwards to this for months.
But, I have to say... it was a bit of a disappointment. They played for less than an hour, and they were noticeably flat. I don't know whether it was just an off day for them, or whether they're just better as a studio band than a live act.

.
I lie. They rocked. Woo woo! *bouncebounceperkybounce* Lots of the album favourites, a medley of several unlikely things including 'Ice Ice Baby' and 'Wannabe', and 'Brazil'.
And a bubble machine. Forget smoke machines, this will be the next perkygoth fashion. Shiny bubbles... shiny...
We got autographs. And the pen ran out, so Lee licked our notebook. Yes, we now have Lee Press-on's dried saliva.
*smiles sweetly*
