Tales of the Unexpected
Jun. 6th, 2001 12:42 pmAt Central Station yesterday, crossing from the train station to the bus-stop. It's a busy road, with traffic lights at the crossing. The lights were green, and lots of traffic was going through only to bank up on the other side - the lights ahead were still red.
And then, a car stopped in front of the crossing. Not just any car, either - a honest-to-goodness 4WD, with that "never been off a sealed road" look to it. I looked - the crossing lights were still green. But traffic ahead was stopped, and rather than queue across the crossing, this driver had actually *stopped* and left it clear for pedestrians.
Do you know how unusual that is in Sydney? From *any* driver, let alone a 4WD?
I hope they had a nice day.
