So,

hasimir mentioned that in 2002 Family First's founder, Andrew Evans, attended the Adelaide Forum, an event presented by the Australian Freedom Foundation.

He noted that tapes of the event are made available by the Australian League of Rights (a notorious right-wing group, buddies of David Irving). But I thought, that's two degrees of separation - maybe Evans had no common ground with the ALR, and they were involved for disparate reasons.

So, let's just look at the AFF, shall we? (much of this promoted from a comment in hasimir's LJ.)

I poked around the Australian Freedom Foundation site, and found some interesting material. (NB: from this page, it looks as Bruce Hannaford, who wrote much of the site's content, may have died last year.)

An AFF Newsletter, which recycles that favourite of crackpots, "Electronic banking is a weapon of the Antichrist, as foretold in Revelation".

An approving quotation of Albert Schweitzer on Africans:

"I have given my life to try to alleviate the sufferings of Africa. There is something that all white men who have lived here, like I, must learn and know: that these individuals are a sub-race. They have neither the intellectual or emotional abilities to equate or to share equally with white men in any of the functions of civilization.

I have given my life to try to bring unto them the advantages which our civilization must offer, but I have become well aware that we must maintain this status: (White) the superior and they the inferior. For whenever a white man seeks to live among them as their equals they will either destroy him or devour him. And they will destroy all his work.

Let white men from anywhere in the world, who would come to help Africa, remember that you must continually retain the status: you the master, and they the inferior like children that you would help to teach. A spot of Googling reveals that the AFF's executive director, Doug Giddings, keeps company with neo-Nazi thugs - and is a branch president of One Nation.

Even without the ALR connection, that gives a pretty good feel for what sort of people the AFF are - and, hence, what sort of event a forum presented by them would be.
