Misc.: electrodes, rooms, and screencaps. Oh, and Laws/Jones

Today, I went downstairs to a small dark room where they sat me in a chair and put electrodes on my head before showing me a series of bright flashing patterns. Then the attendant shone a bright light in my eyes before asking me a bunch of questions. And then I got a $10 book voucher for it.

In other news, thanks to quizzicalsphinx for pointing me to The Red Room and The Viridian Room. Hours of fun that will make you want to slit your own wrists, or maybe somebody else's.

Edit: In other other other news, Denton's interview with John Laws last night was very interesting. The more I see of the show, the more apt the title becomes; Denton has a knack for persuading odious people to show their true colours, simply by encouraging them to keep talking.

It left me more convinced than ever that Laws is the slimiest, smarmiest thing on two legs. Under a thin goat of bonhomie, there's a tremendous amount of venom there; one of the things I really despise is people who use cop-outs like "Some people might say..." and "If I were going to say something, it would be X, but I won't...".

But all the same, it was fascinating watching him do a hatchet job on Jones - I can admire the skill even as I despise the man who wields it - and there are few more deserving targets. The insinuation that the relationship between Jones and Flint is more than just platonic was expertly handled... and I suppose it's possible that it's true. Stranger things have happened.

My stand out favorite was the picture of CNN during the most recent shuttle tragedy, claiming that the shuttle was moving at "17 times the speed of light" when it disintergrated. Funny in much the same dark fashion.
