*laugh* Your comment confused me a little, because actually, my usual mental image of "weightlifter" as opposed to "bodybuilder" is, well, someone who lives by the power-builder's creed - "Lift as much as possible, eat as much as possible, sleep as much as possible". Very few serious weightlifters I know bother "cutting", or even caring to much about *looking* buff. You can't build muscle if you don't eat over maintenance.

If you are imagining chiseled Greek gods, then yeah. Body building generally has 2 phases, constantly repeating. A bulking phase, to build muscle bulk, and then a cutting phase, to remove the fat that inevitably results. Weight lifters have no serious incentive to remove the fat. In theory, it is possible to eat precisely enough to gain muscle without gaining fat, but in practice, there's generally surplus.

"tubby bitches", in fact, is often a reasonable description of most serious lifters :)

In fact, that reinforces one of my beliefs - if you want to look like a weightlifter, become a serious sprinter.
