Why aren't there more big campaigns against eating octopi? Isn't it fairly well accepted that they're smarter than the average chicken?
(Or am I just speciesist against chickens?)

This sort of thing is why I don't eat them.
(To be precise, if somebody puts octopus on my plate and I can't do anything for the octopus by refusing it, I'll eat it, but I won't order octopus or help myself to it.)
