...was pretty good. My only complaint is that it felt a bit light in the middle. But that's just a minor complaint; it was lots of fun all the same :-)

Also, have a happy bear!

The animation had an interesting style, and there were some good jokes, but Buzzy and I agreed that the story was completely cut-and-dried. He saw the "believe in yourself" moral coming from miles away.

Meh. I don't go to kung fu movies for the moral lessons. I go for the Noodle Boy Makes Good and Finally Learns The Dangerous Art of the Wushu Finger Hold.

That and to watch the horribly misaligned lip synch dubbing, which this film woefully lacked.

That and to watch the horribly misaligned lip synch dubbing...

You say that like you believe that they even try to get the lip synch right.

There's nothing funnier than watching the actor's lips move for 10 seconds, and then the overdub says, "No."

I picked the contents of the scroll well before it was revealed :-)

Come to think of it, that's probably a big part of why I wanted more in the middle. Tradition dictates that we start with the Reluctant Hero being chosen and doubting himself, and finish with him triumphing because he believes in himself, so it's the middle where you have the most chance to be creative with the story. (Aside from the mandatory montage, of course.)
