DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) has a branch called the 'Information Awareness Office'. Their logo can be seen at http://www.reason.com/0210/artifact.shtml and I can't go past the description there: "a Masonic eye-in-the-pyramid blasting a sci-fi death ray across the globe."

The Department of Homeland Security also has its own logo: an eye staring through a keyhole, with an upside-down US flag in the background:

As Tom Lehrer famously remarked when Henry Kissinger received the Nobel Prize for Peace, satire really is superfluous.

(Thanks to the Daily Illuminator for highlighting these.)

Utterly priceless.

Sometimes I wonder whether the weirdness I write could even begin to approach reality.

And on that topic, the new movie, XXX.

Has a Russian informer-type-chick called 'Yelena', who does all the financial stuff and who is the girlfriend of the eastern european crime boss. There are more similarities, but if I told you them I'd ruin the tenuous story.

Okay, that's it, Canada's too close.

Can I emigrate to Australia now?

Sure, but you have to promise to vote against Little Johnny next election.

It's becoming clear that the International Space Station is really a death star.

It's indeed neither the East or the West side, nor the North or the South side.

It's the dark side, f00...

(dark laughter) It's just so *beautiful* how much weirder reality is than fiction. Take medical insurance corporations and their policies, for example, among many examples --Kafka would have *loved* the kinds of things that happen on a daily basis. Or said it was too weird for him. ;-)
