Though the stuff about animal rights activists wanting it killed is also interesting. I do wonder how much of this is 'one crazy person/group that gives the rest a bad name' that's been blown up into 'animal rights activists'.

That's my suspicion, and there might also be some quote-mining going on too.

Not that there aren't some serious problems with this situation; for all that he's cute now, I think he's likely to have serious socialisation issues down the track, and a confused polar bear is a real menace. But it's hard to see how killing him would be preferable.

He's cute as anything, but won't stay that way. And I'm a believer that, with a few rare exceptions, trying to 'tame' a wild animal is not generally a viable idea.

Still, I can't think how killing him would be a better idea either.

Ah, figures. Though to be honest, from what I can tell, there are some people out that that are so far into the 'nature would be a perfect happy place without humans involved' that they might agree with the apparent views.

Either way, he's still an adorably cute bear. :)

sooooo cute, yeah saw it earlier on the news, sad some people have such extreme views though - i know another animal activist who thinks all animals should be immediately put out of their misery now and killed.
