Via james_nicoll & pharyngula, this story: Georgia state rep. Ben Bridges has issued a memo claiming that evolution and the Big Bang theory are a Jewish myth:

"Indisputable evidence - long hidden but now available to everyone - demonstrates conclusively that so-called 'secular evolution science' is the Big Bang, 15-billion-year, alternate 'creation scenario' of the Pharisee Religion... This scenario is derived concept-for-concept from Rabbinic writings in the mystic 'holy book' Kabbala dating back at least two millennia."

The memo encourages readers to learn the truth by visiting anti-evolution website http://www.fixedearth.com. I quote from the front page of that site, minus kooky formatting:

"The Earth is not rotating...nor is it going around the sun. The universe is not one ten trillionth the size we are told. Today’s cosmology fulfills an anti-Bible religious plan disguised as "science". The whole scheme from Copernicanism to Big Bangism is a factless lie. Those lies have planted the Truth-killing virus of evolutionism in every aspect of man’s "knowledge" about the Universe, the Earth, and Himself."

(Bridges' excuse is that he didn't write the memo himself - it was written by Marshall Hall, owner of the abovementioned site, ally of Bridges, and husband of Bridges' campaign manager. But IMHO, if you associate yourself with crazy people and let them put out stuff under your name, you're responsible for what ensues.)

If it's any help, Texas Representative Warren Chisum is also big on this, too, so I figure that a lot of money changed hands from crazed fundies to equally syphilitic legislators. As I keep pointing out, I always love how every conspiracy affecting these dogfelchers is a Jewish or Vatican plot: the first time I heard that all Catholics are in on a Vatican plot to conquer the planet and that we're indoctrinated in this from birth, I stomped down to church and asked the priest "And why the hell wasn't I invited to the meeting? Do I offend?"
