Date: 2007-01-29 11:17 pm (UTC)Our conversation yesterday was touched off by an awful "inspirational" book on display at the bookstore where we work: "The Gospel According to Starbucks," which has a big disclaimer on the front saying that it was not authorized by Starbucks. From the back cover: "Let Leonard Sweet show you how the passion that Starbucks® has for creating an irresistible experience can connect you with God’s stirring introduction to the experience of faith. " Ugh.

Date: 2007-01-30 02:11 am (UTC)The Starbucks one looks pretty awful, but I'm inclined to view 'Baby Got Book' as legitimate parody. The lazy man's research tool tells me that several other people have parodied the song, and Mix-A-Lot has recorded two alternate versions of 'Baby Got Back' for commercial purposes, so I can't think he'd be too fussed by this particular one.
