What with still being unemployed, and Rey working graveyard shift, my own sleep cycle is all over the place. Last night I was working on a modelling project when I noticed Dog-Or standing there staring at me: It's two-thirty in the morning. Shouldn't you be in bed?

I mentally acknowledged that yes, I probably should, but I just had one little bit more to go. So he came over and flopped on the beanbag, watching me and waiting for me to finish. So around 3 am I finished up and went to bed. Dog-Or is used to cuddling up to either Rey or myself, and since she wasn't there and I was up later than usual, this was obviously messing up his plans. I thought about what a loyal little doggie he is, and went to bed with a spaniel cuddled up against my feet.

And then while I was fast asleep he snuck out to the kitchen again, stood up on his hind feet, and nibbled a great big wodge off the cake that Rey had left a little too close to the edge of the table because I was no longer there to stop him.

*sigh*

Dog-Or would be at home with my cats (provided they didn't hiss and he isn't the type of dog that chases cats).

He does, but I suspect this would stop fairly soon after the first time he got his nose swiped.

Tsk. To think you two haven't been trained yet when it comes to these things.

Or maybe...you have.

The style of fighting that my cats have adopted is the tried and true method of closing one's eyes and shouting "Not in the face! Not in the face!" Any actual hits on a tender nose would be by sheer accident.

Aslan will throw us strange looks when we deviate from our normal sleeping schedule. He's a little too anxious to just go sleep in his bed on his own (like my parents' dog will). Thing is, for him this is totally a routine issue - my pups spend the night sleeping in their own bed. That is, unless one of the humans went to bed "early" and the other inadvertantly fell asleep on the couch, then the pups get to sleep with the humans. (Emma prefers this and will spend the entire night tucked behind [livejournal.com profile] aslanspawh's legs on the couch so not to wake him. Aslan will only sleep the entire night if he's shut in his bed, otherwise he feels the need to protect us and patrol the house.)
