In vaguely reverse order.
New Orleans is full of SHINY THINGS that cost more than I could ever afford. Chandeliers for US$90k, which is more than we paid for our house. Galleries full of gorgeous artwork, and the closest it gets to affordable is limited-ed prints for several hundred dollars each, which is not very close at all. *cries*
Bitten repeatedly by an oversized Chicago mosquito. V. impressive.
Went on walking tour of the cemeteries. Fun, although bloody hot (about 110 Fahrenheit) and little shade. Will do vampire tour tonight - intrigued to see whether it's as cheesy as the brochure suggests. Might even be quite good.
Flew to New Orleans from Chicago. Resolve to avoid flying United next time. (Apparently arriving 1 hour before a domestic connection is no longer enough to guarantee making a flight. Doesn't help when airline is staffing the check-in with trainees at the busiest time of the week. Trainees who then redirect us to non-existent gate number.)
Amber had an extra ticket to Concrete Blonde, so Rey & I bought one more and saw them with her. Enjoyed gig very, very, very much, though somewhat hard of hearing next day. Also went up Hancock Tower, etc - very nice view.
Realise that several of my friends are gorgeous, talented, witty, fun people who live entirely too far away. Resolve to kidnap them and start a commune somewhere sensible, so I can have all my friends in one place.
