Reckless driving
Feb. 21st, 2006 11:34 amSMH story, still in need of some copy-editing:
Police say the driver charged with the smash that killed six teenagers and left one fighting for his life has appeared in court at least eight times since 1992 for driving while disqualified.
And it [sic] alleged his four-year-old son was sitting on his lap at the time of the crash.
(The guy appears to have lost control of his car while speeding, and ploughed through a crowd of teenagers standing on the other side of the road; he then fled the scene, leaving the four-year-old and his nine-year-old daughter in the car at the scene of the crash.)
I feel terribly sorry for his kids; he may well have managed to screw up their lives just as badly as he did for the friends and families of the ones he killed. But if reports so far are accurate, this guy needs to go to jail for a very long time, no matter what his mum says about him.
