I've got a little list.
Mar. 12th, 2002 05:13 pmAnd these people are on it:
www.sendacrush.com
Here's how it works: you get an email telling you that somebody has a crush on you. But they won't just tell you who... you have to log on to their website and correctly guess that person's email address before they'll confirm your guess.
So, the mark - and the initial ones are probably chosen by harvesting from the lonely hearts groups, that's the sort of people we're dealing with - guesses. And guesses. And guesses. And in the process, supplies these people with lots and lots of valid email addresses.
They do have a 'privacy policy', but they do their best not to draw your attention to it. Here's why:
"Any and all information provided by any registered user may be shared with other organizations so that these organizations may enhance their databases with additional user demographic information and send e-mail marketing messages from which we think our users will benefit."
(Followed by the standard meaningless opt-out policy.)
Load 'em all on the 'D' ark, that's what I say, and set the drives to overload.
