Fathers' Day

Tony (da_norvegicus' father) stayed overnight on Saturday night, and he and I both got Fathers' Day presents (and pancakes) on Sunday morning. It's odd, but most of the time it seems to work... and afterwards, we both stood over Adam 'encouraging' him on his Greek homework. He'd already written the answers on the question sheet, but apparently he'd been a little grumpy when he did it...

1. (i) How did the ancient Olympics begin and end? With ceremonies.
(ii) Why were they held at Olympia? Because it had the same name as the Games.
(iii) What was the purpose of the ancient Olympics? To make muscle-bound meatheads feel good about themselves.

There ought to be a word for "I agree with you, but you probably shouldn't say that."

Speaking of presents, mine was actually a receipt, because it doesn't come in till the end of the month... but it involves Kiefer Sutherland, a carousel, and a Special Edition.

its funny you mention about adams assignment, brett's has the similar lines of...

1) What is 'vision'
A) To see

2) Why weren't females allowed to compete at the olympic games?
A) Because men were chauvenistic pigs and thought woman were weak...

We tried to explain that there is better ways of saying things but i don't think it got through...

However you have to give it to adam... the guy speaks the truth regarding No.3 that is...

I think there is a word for that - it's "smartarse," used in a singularly approving/affectionate tone of voice and accompanied by a ruffling of the hair, or a hug or somesuch. Or you could go with something like my high school teachers used: "You think so, I think so, but the Board of Studies want a different answer..."

Kudos to the ratling, either way.
