Question for my medical friends

The Age reports:

A team of doctors reported the discovery of cat-flea typhus in the Medical Journal of Australia this week after they carried out a lengthy investigation similar to those featured in the hit television series House.

My question is: is this comparison more offensive, or less offensive, than if they'd compared it to an episode of Scrubs?

[The article also called typhus a 'virus', but that seems to have been fixed now.]
