Kinda sad...

I can't remember the last time I heard 'fallen woman' used in a modern context.)
FWIW, the 'sad' bit to me isn't that she went into sex work, it's the family background. One thing I appreciated very much about my upbringing is that while my parents encouraged me to develop the gifts I had, they also let me be a kid and have time with my friends. (Which, given my introversion and social skills, didn't end up being very much, but that's not their fault ;-)
One thing that makes me a wee bit suspicious: the Mail strives to give the message that she became a prostitute because Daddy mistreated her, but I can't see anything in her own words that says as much. Just a carefully-framed quote that may not originally have been connected to her choice of profession.
