Graduation
Apr. 30th, 2004 03:12 pmMy graduation ceremony was today. (Only 14 months after I handed in my thesis...) It was a nice ceremony, and I got to wear one of those floppy hats, which look so much better than the mortarboards the Bachelors wear :-) The Chancellor, John Yu, made a very nice and not-too-long speech; the guest speaker spent most of his time plugging his engineering company, but it's not a proper ceremony without at least one dull speech.
I graduated alongside Jasjit, which gave us the opportunity to swap gossip and bitch about certain people while we waited for our turn. (Jasjit is a very nice Sikh lady who was one of my student reps and helped me get through Angsty Thesis Moments by reassuring me that the problems I was having with two staff members were the exact same problems everybody else has with them.)
Then photos, and Rey and her parents whisked me off to lunch at v. nice seafood restaurant. Argh narm yum. And back to work for a couple of hours.
I'm not planning to go through it again, though :-)
