That's done, then.
Mar. 25th, 2002 08:36 pmHad my annual review today. Went quite well, I think. People telling me afterwards how 'professional' my presentation was, which was very gratifying. I certainly didn't feel it, but I've learnt how to sidestep my fear of speaking.
I still can't rehearse, though. I can prepare a talk, and give it to a group, but if I ever try to practice it by myself I just disintegrate. Instead I have to ad-lib, which seems to work.
I'm gradually coming to believe that the work I've been doing for the last nearly-five-years now is actually worthwhile and useful, which will help immensely when I try to persuade my examiners of same.
My supervisor didn't show for the review, which was a bit of a pity but doesn't really bother me.
In other news, I saw the chiro on Saturday. I went in thinking there was just one sore spot in my back and came out realising there were two, plus a stiff region, plus two more in my neck. I'll be glad when he actually gets to the "doing something about it" stage of the treatment, since it aches more now I know what I'm looking for.
In other other news, my new office-neighbour is Austrian. We had a welcome-to-the-postgrads BBQ tonight, and he showed up in lederhosen. o.O
