asagwe) points out that if one searches the Democrat-Gazette's website for other letters by Connie Meskimen, it becomes pretty clear that s/he is given to facetious humour, and the letter I quoted yesterday isn't meant seriously. Mea culpa for not checking the archives before I posted, but I'm pleased to see it's not genuine.
