_Triffids_ and especially _Kraken_ are still two of my favourite books. _Triffids_ always reminds me of _Invasion of the Body Snatchers_ filmically, though, in particular the 70s movie. I still think that triangular building (was that in Chicago? -- something about it being owned by the production company, I think, which was the reason for it showing up as the symbol for ultimate evil) is scary as hell.
