LJ DDoS attacks
Apr. 9th, 2011 11:10 amVia mycroftca, some info about the recent LJ outages:

TL:DR - the outages have been caused by large DDoS attacks, apparently aimed at shutting down Russian anti-corruption activists who use LJ.
While I've grumbled about LJ management over many things, I'm definitely not going to blame them for this one. (Though I'd still suggest it as a reason to archive, to DW or elsewhere.)
Edit: The map of where the bots are coming from is interesting.
