Logical fallacy
Feb. 26th, 2010 09:36 amWhat is the name for the logical fallacy where one 'debunks' one particular theory by raising an objection that applies equally to all the alternative theories? Is it just ignoratio elenchi, or something else?
(Suggested by some TV discussion last night on the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh - while it would indeed have been odd for Mossad to send eighteen people to do this, it would've been odd for anybody else to do it too. I guess this is also an example of the Chewbacca Defense.)
