Miscellany
Feb. 17th, 2009 09:09 pmTragic geek moment today: the 'rest and stretch' thingy on my work PC came on, and I realised I'd finished my at-work book, my on-the-bus book, AND my on-the-plane book*. Saved only by my emergency Tufte.
(And then I remembered I also have John Banham's The Sea on the desk, but I really don't feel inspired to finish that one.)
(And then I remembered I had another on-the-bus book. Disaster averted.)
*'Pasteur's Gambit', which my father gave me for my birthday. Rather an interesting story, about Pasteur's attempt to win a prize for biological eradication of rabbits in Australia long before myxomatosis. Features Henry Parkes and Sandra Bernhardt, among many others.
Speaking of animals, it warms my heart to see this FYP post about the Victorian bushfires (language not work-safe).
