RIP, Jack Kevorkian
Jack Kevorkian has died at 83. I did not follow his activism closely enough to pass judgement on whether his actions were well-judged, but I do believe people should be free to choose their own way of dying. Indirect cause of death seems to be hep C, contracted during transfusion experiments back in the 1960s, so ultimately I guess it was trying to save life that killed him.
OTOH, according to his attorney, he died peacefully and without pain. All things considered, that part seems apt.

I'm sorry, but...
(Anonymous) 2011-06-05 04:11 am (UTC)(link)He was never a practicing physician. He was a pathologist, and he never actually treated any patients. He did however, enjoy photographing the eyes of the dying. And painting with human blood.
If enough people had been willing to separate the man from the cause, they would have seen him for what he was - probably the most prolific serial-killer in the entire history of mankind.
Dr. Kevorkian and his supporters absolutely sold the world a bill of goods and personally, I'm glad he's gone.
