Kitten!

Expensive cat toy!

While I'm here: forgot to mention where Rey and I went last Friday night (or was it Thursday?) We went out to a theme bar, the theme being 'bloody cold'. The furniture, decor, and glasses are all made of ice. It was a bit pricey ($30 gets you half an hour's entry and one drink, $40 if you want a second) but as the review says, "It's unfair to compare Minus 5 with other bars that aren't made entirely of ice".

Oh, and a quote I liked:

"Readers should certainly be warned that many of the details out of which this book's narrative has been constructed are ambiguous and ferociously disputed - and that the sudden appearance of a number in the text, hovering like a fly over a midden, generally indicates that qualification is being offered in an endnote." - Tom Holland, Persian Fire: The First World Empire and the Battle for the West.

They imported the ice from Canada?!

Yeah, that seems a bit odd to me. There were a lot of very large, clear slabs, so maaaybe it's easier to import them rather than make them up to those specs here, but it surprises me all the same.

And, yes, I want to try the Ice Hotel too :-)

What Fun!

How one transports ice over such a distance I'd love to know.

Ice Hotel ... I'd be a wee bit concerned, but then again I've camped out in the dead of winter myself.
