ABC reports:

South Australian Labor MP Steve Georganas says he wrote to the Federal Government six months ago to find out how many Australian citizens have been mistakenly detained.

He says he received a reply last week.

The Government has already acknowledged citizens Vivian Solon, Cornelia Rau and a man known as Mr T were mistakenly detained.

It is now revealed another 26 Australian citizens have been mistakenly held in detention centres over the past 10 years.
