*wince*

SMH article:

There is speculation that the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, is in line to replace Benedict as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Cardinal Pell is thought to have been influential in organising support for Benedict, and if he gets the job he would become his chief doctrinal enforcer.

Well, that's just peachy.

Would that mean he leaves Australia?

Not sure. With modern communications, it sounds like the sort of job that could be done from Australia (plus frequent visits to Rome, which Pell does anyway), but I don't know whether the Pope would approve.

It feels so odd to say "the Pope" and not be talking about JPII.

Hey, maybe he's the Anti-Christ!

... what?

I want to be able to say that I'm surprised, except... I'm not, not a bit.
