Poor marketing techniques
Just got email inviting me to a cyber security conference in the UK, headed "Information security". As far as I can tell it looks legit... except for the bit where I'm not an IT professional of any flavour, don't live in or near the UK, and haven't asked anybody to send me this sort of stuff. The only thing I can think of is that they might have harvested my email from an old RISKS Digest.
If it was for some other product I'd just trash it as spam, but it seems odd that anybody running an IT-related conference would think this was a good way to drum up business.
